North Carolina

As both of us have to frequently visit North Caroline for business purposes, you would expect that we would get to know the area quite well. Yes and No. During standard working times then other than restaurants and the shopping malls there is little time to have fun.

Recently we were both there over a weekend when we said where shall we go. We asked colleagues - "Where can we go within 1 - 2 hours of RTP for a walk?" and we were met with blank gazes. So off to visit a local Barnes and Noble where we found a great book - "60 Hikes within 60 Miles - Raleigh" by Lynn Setzer (ISBN 089732-332-7). Perfect just what we needed. Another good source of information is the North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation where this map can be found.

Using these 2 sources we now have more than enough to keep us happy for some time. First on the list - Raven Rock.

Then of course we discovered Geocaching which is currently keeping us very busy in and around the Raleigh area. Wonder if we need to go back to Ravens Rock ??
